Daring in a Red Skirt

Hi Friends!

This cloudy weather makes me miss our days in New York City. I had the opportunity to attend The National Retail Federation's annual Big Show. I heard from wonderful keynotes speakers such as Rebecca Minkoff and Simon Sinek. Getting to experience New York was great, but I could never trade my experience at the Big Show for anything. It allowed me to open my mind and find new ideas for the retail industry. It just made me love this major that much more!

We were strolling through Central Park during our two-hour evening break and it was simply beautiful. I felt like in this outfit and in this place, I can do anything. This was the perfect look for a quick trip to The Met and then on to the Big Show Gala Reception. 

Don't be afraid to take chances. You never know what that daring decision could lead you to. On this day, I walked up to a man I had never met before. I introduced myself and we exchanged business cards. Now, I get to learn all about how his technology is going to change the face of retail. Life is good outside of your comfort zone. It good for your soul. Be confident and take the world by storm.

Embrace Adventure With Porter

Life is all about adventure. My favorite adventures usually include my best bud, Cooper. This time I got to take him to a nearby horse barn. He was curious and scared all at the same time. We packed up all our stuff in my new Just Porter backpack. This bag is so spacious and very durable for traveling.

It was one of those deep in the rack TJ Maxx finds. I rarely have these moments and I just could not pass it up. It has a slimming shape with the white detailing at the bottom to give it more flare. Of course, I paired it with my favorite nude heels and elegant jewelry.

Gold Attire + A-List Greek Bar Bracelet

Things have been absolutely crazy lately. I have added a new member to the HSL team. Meet John Wayne Cooper Pierce, but we will just call him Cooper! He has become my partner in crime and I am so glad he picked me to take on this big world with. We have had a very big week. I brought Coop home and then within a couple of days we were off to meet my parents for my baby cousin's baptism. So Cooper got to go on his first road trip! 

This is the outfit I wore to the baptismal service. This adorable Bar Stamped Bracelet has to be my favorite part! A-List Greek was so sweet to send me this custom bracelet! It has the date that HSL was established stamped on it in roman numerals. My favorite part about A-List Greek is that they aren't just a greek website. They say every girl needs one thing - a pretty little black dress. But I think every girl needs two things - a pretty little black dress AND an adorable little white dress. This Calvin Klein number was the perfect choice for a dinner and a show. The best thing about white dresses is that you can pair any other color in the world with it! I wore this cute dangle earrings that had lots of color in them. I have linked this actual Calvin Klein dress and a similar one with a smaller price.

Embroidering Adventures

I told you I would be wearing TONS of embroidered work this summer! This has been my favorite trend. You can see my last embroidered top I shared HERE. The thing I love about this outfit is that you can take these shorts and pair them with absolutely anything! I have four different colors of this exact pair. Don't believe me? Style tip #1 from HSL:

If you are going to invest in something, try to invest in a staple piece. Find something you know you are going to get your money's worth. I also believe in "if you love it - buy it in two colors" (or four).

I am a college girl on a college girl budget. I understand when $40 shorts just can't cut it. Be sure to check if your favorite stores have outlet stores or website. In this case, you can get these exact shorts for $16 (originally $32) from the J.Crew Factory website. 

Style tip #3 from HSL: 

Never be embarrassed of a discount. Everywhere I go I ask if they have a student discount available. What is the worst thing that could happen? They tell you no and you go on with your sunshiny day! (P.S. J.Crew will give you 15% off your entire purchase if you can show them your student ID)

I have wanted to share this top from the moment I got it! I stumbled upon this little boutique on the side of the road with my aunt and my momma in Beaumont, TX. If I can find the name of the boutique I will come back and link it. For now I have linked three embroidered tops that I am just LOVING! This trend is so hot this summer. The best thing is that embroided tops are usually made with linen so they are breezy and aren't very thick.

This week has been all about getting my life organized and sticking to my #HSLGamePlan! I have a lot of fun content coming soon. Sea Blues

Isn't it crazy how you feel like you need a vacation when you get home from vacation? Our Bahamian cruise went by way too fast! In Freeport, we found one of the prettiest beaches I have ever seen and it is also one of the locations of Victoria's Secret photo shoots. This linen top was perfect for a walk on the beach. It is very light and breezy. You can pair it with a sun hat and any color chino shorts you please.
