Flashback Friday: HCBN Back-To-School Fashion

Hey y'all!

I have been seriously under the weather lately but, I think my stomach problems are soon to be behind me! I have spent the last few days at home curled up in my pajamas, sipping on 7Up, and waiting for the worst to pass. It seems to be on the downhill now! Thank you all for sticking with me through this. I hope to get a lot more outfit post up now that I am feeling better. Tomorrow I leave to move back into my college home and I am excited to start a new school year and a new chapter in my book. Nothing says BACK-TO-SCHOOL like fall fashion!

I have yet to announce this but I have joined up with HerCampus.com to be apart of their Blogger Network. I'm excited for the opportunities to come and all the new bloggers I will get to meet on this journey! With that being said, I asked a few of them if they mind sharing their fall back-to-school looks with my viewers (since I haven't been able to lately) and they were more than happy to help! I got a lot of great responses but these are just a few that seem to resemble my style the most. I have linked all the post down below, so be sure to head over and check out their blogs too!

I hope you can get a little inspiration for this new school year from these lovely ladies! Wishing y'all a wonderful first day and I can't wait to see what this year is going to bring!

Navy and Lace, What a Pair!

Hey y'all!

It's my last final week before school starts! Days of laying around, watching endless Netflix, and eating whatever I want are coming to a sudden halt! I love going back to school but, I will miss these lazy days. This top was given to me by my mama and we can't seem to find the original purchase. I have linked three similar looks down below!

Earrings / Top (similar HERE and HERE and HERE) / Shorts / Necklace / Sandals (similar)

Just a heads up, I have moved instagrams! You can now follow me at @HeySadieLee

I think navy and lace make the best pair! They are very classy together but with a little fun nautical theme! Let me know if you find the link to this exact top and I will update the blog! Happy back to school to those who started this week!

Fitness Friday: Top 10 Running Songs!

Hey y'all!

So I don't know about you but, sometimes I need a little extra encouragement to get through my runs. There are nights that I just don't want to get out there. I know I should but, I can come up with plenty of reasons excuses why I shouldn't. These songs help me get through that last half mile and push me to finish strong!

1. Check Yes Juliet by We The Kings - Okay, I know it talks about running away but doesn't the line "run baby run don't ever look back" make you want to get moving?

2. Bad Blood (remix) by Taylor Swift- If you can learn the lyrics to the rap music, it will keep you busy! I promise!

3. Outside My Window by Sarah Buxton - This song is so positive. I don't know how you wouldn't want to jump around and dance to it!

4. Standing Outside The Fire by Garth Brooks - When I saw him in live it was the best concert ever! I think this song just takes me back to that place.

5. Shake It Off by Taylor Swift - Have you seen this music video? She's dancing the the whole song!

6. Going Out Like That by Reba - Come'on? It's Reba! Do I need to say anymore?

7. Fine By Me by Andy Grammer - This hip-hop song is perfect for keeping up a nice run!

8. Sold by John Michael Montgomery - Oh man... the fast pace on this song is perfect!

9. Sweet Serendipity by Lee DeWyze - Positivity is key!

10. Crash and Burn by Thomas Rhett - This is a newer song and it has a great beat! I love it!

Soakin' Up Summer

Hey y'all!

These are the last few weeks of summer! Soon it will be back to books and Nike shorts to class. This top has been my recent favorite for these hot Texas days! The crossed-back allows a little breeze through while still looking classy and cute! This top is over 50% off right now! I ordered a size up so it would be a little longer. Also, use the code "RiffraffRepCassie" to get these shorts 15% off! They are perfect for any summer outfit!

Seeing Chicago

Hey y'all!

This past weekend we took my dad to an outdoor theater to see one of his favorite bands, Chicago. It may not be my first pick of music but, I love spending time with my family. Since it was outdoors (in the Texas heat of summer I might add) I decided to keep it very light and breezy. This exact outfit has been my go-to all summer! I originally bought this plain shirt to sleep in but, (oops!) decided to make it into another comfy shirt to pair with pattern shorts! What can I say? I strive to make wearing pj's in public a thing.

Becoming a Blonde Belle!

Hey y'all!

So I have been avoiding outfit post because, I did the unthinkable. I went blonde! I have wanted this for a long time and I kept telling myself that a dark hair brunette could not go blonde. I did a lot of research before I went in. I found pictures, watched videos on people who have done it, talked to friends about it, looked up salons, and read a ton of articles. My mom always said if I really want something, I know everything about it by the end of the day. She was right! A friend of mine recommended a salon in town. I am no profession. What worked for me may not work for you. This is just my hair journey.

A little background on my hair. I had a natural ombre look from sun and chlorine that made the ends of my hair seem blonde. I dyed the ends an auburn color to cancel out the blonde.

Here is the 1st process of dying my hair. I told my stylist I wanted an ashy blonde color with "grown out roots" because I didn't want to dye my eyebrows. Fair warning: There will be a yellow-orange color stage to it if you have any red pigment (natural or dyed) in your hair. Purple shampoo or a toner process will help but do your research!

I used the Matrix So Silver Shampoo every day until my next appointment (total of 5 days). I also tried the John Frieda Sheer Blonde Color Renew Shampoo. The Matrix seemed to dry my hair out more than the John Frieda. I used the Matrix Total Results Color Care Conditioner after each shampoo treatment. Then I would use the L'oreal Total Repair 5 Damage-Erasing Balm deep conditioning every night before bed. My stylist suggested this because bleach does damage your hair and with my appointments less than a week apart I need the extra love and care. I left this in for 15-20 mins. I love this product so much and it definitely helped! This photo is taken the morning before my 2nd coloring. You can tell it is a little more golden than orange.

Here is the 2nd process. The color was so much better after this appointment! I told her I wanted a more cool / neutral tone to it and not so many warm tones. I also wanted more blonde at the top and less brown roots. There are some orange-y tones where the recently dyed blonde is. She did a blonde light balayage with a ashy brown color. My salon did just get Olaplex in. This is made to protect your hair from serious breakage when going from dark to light. After the Olaplex treatment, all the stylist where coming over to feel my hair and take pictures. I think it turned out great! It blends really well and there is plenty of dimension to it.

The dark roots blend into the blonde easily and allows me to not dye my eyebrows (big plus in my book)! I have always had the same haircut with the same brown tones. I just wanted to change it up. Again, this is just how my journey went. No hair is the same and always do your research before making any decisions. Now, let's see if blondes really do have more fun!
